I won’t start going on and on about how cool it is as there is a whole separate post on it! Check it out here

Some of you may have also read that recently we announced a milestone for Canon - the global production of interchangeable SLR EF lenses exceeded a huge 50 million units sold (as of December 2009). It was more than 50 years ago that Canon sold its first single-lens reflex camera and in 1987 the first Canon EF lens mount was manufactured. Of course, today we have an impressive range of more than 60 EF lenses, with focal lengths ranging from 14mm to 600mm and offering everything from fixed, zoom and specialist macro to tilt/shift and fisheye models. The production and demand that we’ve seen for EF lenses, especially over the last five years, is indicative of the increasing number of people moving from compact cameras into more creative SLR photography.

Nothing illustrates this popularity more than the ever-increasing popularity of the World of EOS. You all still seem to be enjoying EOS Photochains and the new EOS 1wall competition is receiving lots of extremely high quality entries! On this note, congratulations to the two winners of the “in motion” challenge – I loved your images! Thanks to everyone who uploaded their entries for the latest EOS 1wall challenge themed Capture the Feeling – finalists will be announced on 22 Feb!

The EOS Photo5 exhibition was a real hit - thanks to everyone who came along. I’ve posted some photos below for those who couldn’t make it.

Last but not least, we’ve just found out that the EOS 1D MK IV was awarded Editor’s Choice on Photo Review! The review states that “like its predecessor, the EOS-1D Mark IV is a great camera for shooting fast-moving subjects with telephoto lenses. The improvements to the AF system appear to have delivered some genuine performance benefits. Focusing for stills capture is fast, accurate and able to be tailored to the photographer's requirements”.
