It’s time to share with you some insights and thoughts from another incredible 2010
EOS Photo5 winner –
Josh Bakkum. Josh won the
Eye-Dropper brief for the image ‘
fire-wire’.

We love the way Josh captured the exact moment the liquid erupts over the sparkler, creating the sense of a volcanic eruption.
Josh claims, “I learnt a lot from this brief. Happy with this shot as it matched the image I had in my head”.
Congratulations Josh, for this dramatic and outstanding image. Read more about Josh’s inspiration and photographic goals in the below interview.

What motivated you to compete in the EOS Photo5 competition?
I was looking for some inspiration to try some new things so I jumped online. I was lucky to read a post on a forum mentioning the competition; I quickly visited the site and was inspired by the whole idea of the competition, past entries and the opportunity to test my abilities on a random subject.
I also liked the song on the website.
What inspires your photography?
I want to acquire the skills needed to capture the ideas I see in my mind. Trying to think of new ideas and push myself to learn more.
Describe what the EOS online community means to you?
It has given me new reasons to pick up my camera. It has switched me on again, giving me many ideas for new shots. The Photochains competition is a continuing Photo5 type competition I can learn from each month.
Have you participated in any other World of EOS competitions?
Since discovering the Photochains I have entered one photo for the Herochain competition. I will be entering all I can from now on.
How would you describe yourself as a photographer?
I am starting to experiment with more advanced settings.
Are there any professional photographers that you aspire to?
I have to admit, I don't really know any. I enjoy purchasing monthly camera magazines and there are many I am sure I have seen without realising. All I ever wanted was to be able to photograph a bee... I’ve got that shot now.
