World in Review – two amazing EOS cameras have been announced!

This year is already off to an exciting start, which is keeping us very busy here at Canon! As many of you might already be aware, we have just released seven new cameras and five new printers.

I am most excited by the two new EOS cameras we just released – EOS 600D and EOS 1100D. With great new features, both cameras make it easier to capture DSLR quality images.

I had fun experimenting with the features of the EOS 600D, especially the Creative Filters. Differing from the EOS 60D, the EOS 600D now has a Fish-eye effect.

I was impressed with how easily I could achieve different artistic interpretations with my photography. Below are a few of the pictures I took with the creative filters.

We also launched our latest entry-level DSLR – the EOS 1100D. I’m amazed with the intuitive control functions that make it ideal for anyone stepping up from a compact. For instance the Feature Guide function is a great example of this.  It is an in-built glossary of shooting modes and features, a great tool for photographers wanting to expand their skill-set while shooting – without the need to reference an instruction manual.

I am also pleased to announce colour options for the EOS 1100D. Along with the classic Black, it also comes in Metallic Grey and a limited edition Red.

To give you even more options, we have also introduced some great new accessories for your camera kit:  standard zoom lenses EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II and EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 III, and two new Speedlites, the Speedlite 320EX and 270EXII

There is also something for the professional photographers with the announcement of two new additions to the L-series lenses – EF500mm f/4L IS II USM and the EF600mm f/4L IS II USM.

As always, I value your opinion and would love to hear any thoughts.

When we started the World of EOS our aim was to create a forum for users to express their passion and challenge their creativity. Since then, each of you has shared and contributed to what has become a growing and inspirational community.

I have watched as many photographers come out of their comfort zone and not only enter the competitions, but go on to win challenges and inspire others.

As we approach the 2-year anniversary for the World of EOS, I am excited to report that our membership is nearing 50,000.

We would like to celebrate this milestone with the upcoming launch of The 50K Today competition.

Watch the blog to find out more and in the meantime, let us know any key moments or experiences you have had whilst being a World of EOS member.
