New EOS Photochains hero-chain challenge announced: 'droplet'

A big congratulations to Sarah, winner of the latest Canon EOS Photochains hero-chain challenge!

Sarah has won an EOS 550D Single IS Lens Kit valued at RRP $1,499 and 'droplet' is now the new tag for the hero chain.

We asked Sarah to answer some questions to find out what inspired her shot and the new tag...

What inspired this shot?
The shot was inspired by an incredibly misty morning on my property. The droplets gathered in the web, that had been built in the branches of the trees. The light was perfect as it was early morning and the mist created a gorgeous soft effect in the background. Imagine my excitement when I pulled the image up in Photoshop – the water droplets on the web look like jewels.

Why did you choose 'droplet' as the link?
I loved the droplets of water that hung from the web like jewels and thought that a challenge on droplets would inspire some amazing images.

How would you describe yourself as a photographer?
I don’t really know how to describe myself, I prefer to describe other photographers to be honest. I would say I look for the finer things within the finer things to photograph, the gorgeous smile within a gorgeous person, the beautiful colours within a colourful image.  I like bold colours, rich, moody dark tones, and I try to always think outside the box :)

Make sure you follow the link and visit the hero-chain to submit your interpretation of 'droplet'.

Good luck everyone, can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Nice one Canon. Link the full res, unwatermarked image, ripe for anyone to steal.

Hi John,

Thank you for your feedback, although we do have the winners permission we will take your point into consideration and look into protection of the photographer more closely.

Hi John,

Thanks again for your feedback. As a result we have now started to change all our images to low-res with watermarks.

Good stuff, nice to see positive reaction to feedback. Can I suggest however that you use slightly better quality images, the high compression on the JPG above (Sarah's web image) takes away from the quality of the image. We're never happy ;)

Perhaps a quality of 85% or better would be better after the image is resized, the compression artefacts, especially around the watermark, are pretty bad.
