EOS World in Review for June

Hi all, Chris is away at the moment; the lucky thing is traipsing around South Africa following the World Cup! In his absence I’ll do a quick wrap up of the month of June for you all…

As you know, World Press Photo 2010 opened in Sydney last weekend – I was there at the official opening on Friday night and it truly is thought-provoking. I’d seen the images a lot in the lead up to the event but it’s nothing compared to seeing them full-size and with the accompanying story right beside them. I definitely recommend you check it out – it’s on at the State Library of NSW until 25 July 2010. Also, big congratulations to our World Press Photo Facebook winners – your images looked great on the digital screen at the exhibition! Hope those who managed to make it along enjoyed themselves.

Entries have been rolling in for the ‘Photos 1440: A day, a minute, a moment’ Themed Competition on Facebook – we already have well over 100 entries with more than a day to go. Public voting opens this Thursday (July 8) so make sure you vote for your favourite – there is a People’s Choice prize of a 50D digital SLR as well as Judges’ Choice awards.

And I know we mentioned it on the blog a week ago but I just have to reiterate how excited we are to win the Cannes awards for Photochains!!! We not only won the prestigious Lions Grand Prix for Media but six other awards. Woooohooooo! A big thanks to all of you who participate in the Photochains competitions on the World of EOS and helped make this happen!

Hopefully when Chris comes back next month, he’ll have some photos to show us… as if we weren’t jealous enough already…
