Voting is now open for the latest Photochains hero-chain challenge, ‘Cobwebs’.

Good luck to everyone who submitted a photo in the Canon EOS Photochains competition. The number of creative images entered has been inspiring and it’s going to be hard to select a winner!

If you’ve seen one that you think deserves to win, vote for it now by visiting the Photochains homepage, click on the hero image and below there will be a link to the voting page.  The winner will receive an EOS 550D Single IS Lens Kit valued at RRP $1,499 and their image will then become the challenge for the second round of Photochains. Voting closes midnight July 7th, 2010 so make sure you get your votes in.

Good luck!

There have been comments in the past that the Herochain voting process can be manipulated by entrants who are able to recruit a large number of friends and contacts to vote for them. Why not make it mandatory for Photochain members to vote for three images, rather than just one. This would reduce the advantage that "vote chasers" have. It would also encourage members to consider all the images on merit. While the Herochain winners are usually very good images, they are not always the best entries by any stretch of the imagination. Just an idea.

Hi Chris, thanks for the idea! We’ll look into the feasibility of this. Cheers.

Its the same for all these type of public vote competitions including the 1440 moments one. The best photo never wins, its whoever has the most friends to vote, not fair IMO

I completely agree with Chris. The voting process does indeed need to be changed so that the best photo gets selected. This would be a great competition if the best photos always got selected as the winner which unfortunately often doesn't happen and causes good photographers to lose faith in the competition. Canon please make this suggested change ...  it really would improve the herochain no end.

Agreed, it does appear to be open to manipulation.  If the top five were forwarded to an independent judge it might be a good way to go.  Canon could also consider an end-of-year prize for photographers that have submitted regularly.  A portfolio prize judged by Canon staff rather than by hero-chain voters.

Cheers
