Congratulations to Lisa winner of the latest Canon EOS Photochains hero-chain challenge!
Lisa has won an EOS 550D Single IS Lens Kit valued at RRP $1,499 and 'Cobwebs' is now the new tag for the hero chain.
We asked Lisa to answer some questions around what inspired this shot..
1) What inspired this shot?
My friend and I were taking photos for our local club for the category 'derelict" and I came across an old Morrie graveyard, this one in particular had no back window so I leaned against the boot and took this shot. I thought it epitomised the derelict/old age subject matter - everyone knows the Morrie and with the cobwebs and mouldy windows it added to the abandonment and mood of the photo.
2) Why did you choose 'cobwebs' as the link?
I chose cobwebs because I thought it would be a good challenge for other photographers. Anyone can take a photo of a cobweb but capturing an image that also has a story is quite challenging. It also needs to grab the viewer with the 'wow' factor and allow an integral part of the image to become the next link.
3) How would you describe yourself as a photographer?
I consider myself....a professional amateur! I'm currently a stay at home mum of two young boys so I have a baby on my hip and my camera in the other hand! I would love to become pro one day but the industry is so hard to break into with the quality of the current digital technology. Professional photographers are less sought after in favour of cousin John who can "take a good photo"! I'd like to think that one day it will be my profession, I love doing weddings.
4) Anything else you want to share with the EOS community?
I would love to extend my congratulations to all those that have won and have entered the hero-chain, the quality of the images is outstanding! I always look forward to the next link in the chain and viewing all the submissions hoping that one day I will be one of those winners (which I now am!!). Also thanks so much to Canon for offering the EOS community such an amazing prize! I can’t wait to receive it - I don't think I've ever won anything so exciting! :)
