Today Canon Australia announced the winner of its Canon AIPP Australian Professional Photography Awards themed competition, run on its Facebook page.

Australians were challenged to upload an image relating to ‘Science, Environment or Nature’ – one of the APPA categories. A big congratulations to the winner, Daniel Irvine, for his below winning image (as voted by the public). We hope you enjoy getting creative with your new Canon EOS 50D digital SLR camera.

Remember that voting is now open for the World Press Photo themed competition on Facebook – people had to enter an image that illustrated a news event, activity or issue in their life or community. The winner, as voted by the public, will receive a Canon EOS 50D digital SLR camera (RRP $2,299). Up to 20 images will also be awarded ‘Judges’ Choice’ by Canon – these winners will receive the unique opportunity of having their image displayed and credited on a digital display at the entrance to the World Press Photo exhibition in Sydney!

Our third (and final!) photographic competition will launch on our Facebook page next Monday (June 28) so you may like to start thinking about what you could enter – all you need to do is upload a picture that captures a special minute in your day. Another Canon EOS digital SLR is up for grabs as well as prints of your favourite image from the official Sydney Morning Herald exhibition - Photos 1440: A day, a minute, a moment.

The competitions are all part of the Canon EOS Festival of Photography – check them out on the EOS Facebook page.

Good luck and happy shooting!
