Congratulations to Nick Thake, winner of the latest Canon EOS Photochains hero-chain challenge!

Nick has won an EOS 500D Single IS Lens Kit valued at RRP $1,649 and 'Sand' is now the new inspiration/tag for the hero chain.

We asked Nick a few questions around what inspired this shot..take a look below for his answers.

1) What inspired this shot? 
The shot was taken off Exmouth WA, on a fishing trip. The storm rolled over the cape range national park as we were fishing and began striking the reef- I had to try and capture its power so ceased to fish and experimented with a few settings to get the end result. A case of right place and right time, however no fish were caught!
 
2) Why did you choose 'Sand' as the link?
The wet sand provided a great reflection of the lightning, it draws the eye up into the storm and I thought it would provide some interesting images next month!!

3) How would you describe yourself as a photographer? 
I have been taking photos for the last 6 years, most of which have been underwater. Winning this comp will now encourage me to pursue my hobby that one stop further. I'm the sort of guy your girlfriend gets annoyed with for taking your camera everywhere you go!!!
