We asked the latest Canon EOS Photochains hero-chain challenge winner some questions about what inspired this amazing shot...

1) What inspired this shot?
This shot was the result of sitting in the backyard experimenting with a new lens.  The only inspiration was a lazy day at home with the kids!

2) How did you achieve this shot?
This is my son's hand in mine.  As with most of my best shots, there was no planning for this shot at all.  It was taken while waiting for a sunset.  The low angle of the sun helped to add shadows and contrast in the details of the hands.  It was taken using a 50mm lens at f/8, 1/90 sec, ISO 800 by hand.  In hindsight I would process the image more gently but it has become a family favourite as it is and hangs on our wall as a canvas.

3) Why did you choose 'Generations' as the link?
I thought the link 'Generations' would allow many people to show off their best family images of different generations together.  I also thought it would be more appropriate than 'dirty fingernails'.

4) How would you describe yourself as a photographer?
Still learning...
