Whoa! What a month it’s been. Is it seriously November or is my calendar playing a trick on me?! Hmmm, I’m guessing not.
One of the coolest things we’ve done this month is launch the People’s Gallery on the World of EOS.
Perfect for you enthusiast photographers out there, People’s Gallery lets you share your images with the world in your own private exhibition space.
Like a real gallery space, you can decide where and how to hang your images. You can title your images and tell people more about your work. You can even control the lighting, or change the walls and floor. Your exhibition can be as simple or as outlandish as you like…
Once you’re done, you can create digital posters to promote your exhibition within the People’s Gallery, by email, and on Facebook.
You can also browse other photographer’s exhibitions. It’s very cool! Check it out here.
Of course you’ll also know that this month we launched the EOS-1D Mark IV professional digital SLR, featuring FULL HD Movie Mode and a brand new high performance system. By the sounds of the feedback we’ve been receiving, everyone loves its features and specs! You’ll be able to get your hands on a unit sometime in December. In the meantime, try and satisfy your appetite by reading one of the first reviews of the camera on Photo Review.
What else have we been up to? We hosted a large event to officially celebrate the 50th anniversary of the sale of Canon’s first single-lens reflex camera in 1959. This is a huge feat with more than 50-million units produced since 1959! We celebrated our past and present successes in style at Sydney’s Overseas Passenger Terminal with our key retailers, photographers, media and many others.
The event was decked out with images taken by world-renowned photographers on Canon SLRs since the 1960s, bringing the history of Canon EOS over the last five decades to life. I’ve included some images at the bottom of this post.
And throughout all this, we’ve been sending thousands of boxes out to all of you participating in the EOS Photo5 competition and watching keenly as you upload all your images. We are again amazed at the response! Apologies for the difficulties some of you have had in the last couple of days with uploading your images, I know it would have been an inconvenience and I’m pleased we have fixed the problem! You now have until 6am this Thursday (Nov 5) to upload your images and I’d recommend you do this as soon as possible so as not to get stuck in the last minute rush.
Thanks to everyone who got involved! Finalists will be announced next Monday so get ready to vote.
Oh and the 2009 Canon AIPP APPA travelling exhibition has arrived in Sydney and will be on display from tomorrow until the end of this month at the Chifley Plaza, Ground floor, 2 Chifley Street, Sydney. We received lots of positive feedback from its time spent in Melbourne so I’d definitely recommend you check it out.
