I have uploaded all my images but only 3 are visible. i was just wondering, if an image is deemed inappropriate do you lets us know and are we able to upload another image for that brief?

Your images may take up to 48 hours to appear in the gallery. If they have been disapproved you will receive communication from Canon. If they still haven't appeared after 48 hours and you haven't heard anything from Canon send an email to photo5_support@canon.com.au with your registration details and let them know what is going on.

what if your foto is "disaprooved" after the deadline? i know some people have had there stuff knocked back and have been able to upload something else....

im a little unclear on this matter, is the deadline midnight saturday night? being just turned november 1, or is it midnight sunday night, being 11.59 november 1 when entries close?

If you are having issues with uploading your image someone will get back to you within 12 hours and you will still be able to enter.

The upload time finishes at 11:59 on 1st November. Make sure you get your images in as soon as possible though. That way you don't have to worry about whether they will upload in time. Have fun!

Help! I am really having trouble with the upload. I keep getting this error:

As far as i can tell my meta tags and image are not corrupt or invalid.

I have tried several images and all come back with the same error.

But the images open up fine in Digital Photo Professional and Photoshop.

The EOS Photo 5 upload page is refusing to upload my images - it says they are either corrupt or the metadata is invalid.

This is rubbish, the images were shot in Raw and some minor processing has been done in Photoshop CS3 and the images saved.

I have checked the Exif data and it matches the original Raw file.  Many other programs have no trouble displaying these images.

I have tried saving the images with 4 or 5 other programs to no avail, including Canon's own DPP 3.6.

Update to my problem with uploading images.  I've just re-tried using a Raw image direct from my 50D that had ONLY been processed and converted with Canon's DPP and saved as a jpeg (less than 5 meg in size).

Nope - still says the image/metadata is corrupt.

If it won't except DPP jpegs then the site must be busted. :(

maybe I'll just email them all to the support email address - which will be proof that I supplied them before the deadline.

Further info - looks like I'm having the same issue as Graeme. I tried using IE7 instead of Firefox and got the same Server Error.

I had the exact same problem as Graeme (potentially dangerous request etc).

I just tried uploading the same photo through another computer and I keep getting messages saying the image won't be accepted due to problems with corruption or metadata.

I've re-saved time and time again with no resolution. It's quite frustrating because I want to upload photos before the deadline but can't!

Using Google Chrome I also get an error message with a bit more sense as follows:

I know my images are not corrupt and the size is less than 5 mb. I use Lightroom to edit, resize and export my RAW images to jpg.

I've tried resaving and I'm still getting the same error.  It's happening with more than one image too.

I have been trying for the past day to upload my photo to the competition but every time I get this error:-

Why is it so easy to upload a photo to facebook, flicker, red bubble but Canon can't get such a simple thing right !!!!

I have tried re-saving it, stripping the EXIF data out etc etc.  I can open it fine on various computers using various programs.  Is it me or is there a problem with the upload?

Don't want o miss the dadline-I have been unsuccessful at uploading a 3MB jpeg file, single name title, saved in Photoshop from a tiff file.

I've been trying to upload files since late last night. I'm getting the same error as Graeme. I've sent an email to photo5_support@canon.com.au twice but have not heard back. It's been longer than 12 hours. Is there anything else I can do to get my upload issues resolved?

I've been trying to upload my one image off and on for over 14 hours at this point. Either the site just wont open (which it's started doing again) or I get the same message Graeme's gotten.

I have a slow net connection, and I'm more and more concerned that I won't be able to access the site much longer given how many people tend to upload images last minute.

Tried about 50 times over the last week to upload various images, seems like luck of the draw which ones go through. Error messages seem to come up at random stages of the process too. I have done everything suggested, still can't get the last one to upload, and getting the same error as Graham. Well, was. It's now just saying that the image could not be saved.

Terrible website.

PS. Even only using Canon software to edit and create image, it still doesn't like it. Even after submitting as a 1024 by whatever file (which I had to do for most) it is having issues.

I am unable to upload my photo’s in any browser – I have encountered errors with both Internet Explorer and Firefox in uploading my entries.

Firefox seems to work, in the sense the browser pages keep loading, however it tells me my images or metadata file attached to the photo is corrupt. This is not so, I am very security conscious about my pc and photography work. The files are clean.

I have tried saving them various ways and are sure they are fine (High and Low Res RGB Jpegs way under 5mb) it is now 6:58 pm NZ time and I AM FREAKING OUT, PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!

I've been trying to upload two images, but keep getting errors.  I've tried using Firefox and Internet Explorer, but no luck.  I've sent an email to the support team, but don't expect to hear anything back before Monday.

The uploader has not worked at all today and it seems to be a widespread problem talking to other photographers. Is there an alternate way to submit entries to Canon if the problem fails to be fixed before the deadline for uploading?

I am trying to upload an entry and I keep getting an error telling me the file is corrupt ect' and suggesting I change the size of my pic.

My pic is under 4 MB, and it is a valid file, I can see no reason why it wont upload. I have uploaded 2 other similar files, so I think I have the procedure correct.

What happens if I can't get it uploaded tonight?

I uploaded a couple images during the week, and now i am trying to upload some more, i have tried from work, home, and different machines, yet every time i am told the files are corrupt, yet they are able to be opened with no problems. It wont even accept the other images i was able to upload previously. Is anyone else having this issue?

It appears that a fair number of people are experiencing the same problem. Is this likely to be an issue with the server? How else can we submit images in order to be considered for this competition?

I wouldn't be surprised that there's still a fair few people out there working on their entries (I'm still working on the last one) at this time.

I'm pretty sure that the images are not corrupt because I've uploaded them onto other sites (Facebook, etc.). As far as I can tell, the metadata is also fine however I have no idea what "invalid" means.

I understand I am not the only one unable to upload my images due to receiving the error message that my photo cannot be saved due to missing metadata or being corrupt... What is the contingency plan for this as it appears to be a server issue and not related to the integrity of my images? Hey guys, a lot of people are having trouble uploading, myself included. I have tried multiple operating systems and multiple browsers.

we are getting some gibberish from iExplore "Server Error in '/worldofeos/photo5' Application.  A potentially dangerous" etc etc

and "Sorry, the image you are uploading cannot be saved. This is usually because the image is corrupt or the meta data in the image is invalid. Please close this window, then re-save your image and try again." from google chrome.

This is with jpegs straight from the camera, photoshoped ones too and ones i have tried repairing the exif on.

I've been trying to upload my entries, but everytime i've got this message below:

i've tried re-saving, etc etc but no luck. and i can guarantee my files aren't corrupted.

I am having issues uploading jpegs to the site. via IE7 I am getting the same problems as Graeme. When using Chrome, I keep getting "Sorry, the image you are uploading cannot be saved. This is usually because the image is corrupt or the meta data in the image is invalid. Please close this window, then re-save your image and try again". These photos are downloading directly from my 50D as Jpeg, so not sure what is problem.

This is getting very frustrating as I dont want to miss out.... Any help appreciated.

As far as I can tell, all EXIF data is intact and I have resaved as instructed.

Hi I am also getting an error message when trying to upload my photos, I have found another blog that has endless complaints about people trying to upload the photos. It would appear the up-loader failure is becoming a major issue for many. The Flickr group has many posts in regards to the errors. Can you shed any light on the situation that may intern alleviate some of the concerns of the participants?

I've also not been able to upload one of mine, yet the file has all the same properties as my previously uploaded files.

When I try to upload my photo 5 "Bokeh" entry it comes back with a message saying that I should try resaving it as the meta data of image might be corrupt.  I tried to upload an image that I had uploaded successfully in another brief and got the same message so I know that there are no problems with my image.

Is the site just too busy?  What if I can't upload my image before midnight Sun?  Cheers

It seems that the upload for the competition has been broken for everyone for the best part of 2 days now. Being the last day of the competition, will this get fixed soon so we can enter our photos, or will the upload deadline be extended, with only shots taken before the original deadline allowed?

The image has been resaved multiple times now, including on a blank canvas to remove metadata, and the message still comes up.  Have tried several browsers.  I had no problems loading another image a couple of nights ago.  Help!

Probably already a lot of request for more information on the uploading issue, it's obviously affecting a lot of people, but if Canon could just set our minds at ease and let us know they are working on the problem and not just waiting for the deadline to pass it would be greatly appreciated.

But since today is the 1 of November I am starting to panic a bit that I wont be able to upload my final two entries. I have been trying to upload these since Thursday night and have been unsuccessful numerous times through numerous web browsers. I noticed that many others are getting the same error as well. Would you accept the entries if they were emailed to you today?? Please advice.

Hi, tried leaving a comment yesterday that didn't show. Your photo5 site is STILL reading the same message; it would be nice if someone, somewhere, could let us know what is happening, and if it will be fixed before the deadline. I've wasted over 14 hours at this point trying to upload a single image. I've contacted support but haven't heard back. Still trying to find out if there's any point to coming back later to try.

The website crashes evrytime I try and upload a photo. Can you please fix it as time is running out. I have spent the last three hours trying to upload and it keeps telling me that the photos are corrupt and to re-save and then routes me to some information about downsizing on Windows. I am on a Macintosh and all my files are less than 5mB. I have tried saving a copy of the photos and uploading again but keep having the same problem and time is running out, Does anyone have any good ideas?

Next year can your specs be a little more clear on your site please.

Instead of pointing towards a PC application (I'd say along with myself, there are likely to be quite a few people on a mac) can you please say something along the lines of the following :

resolution 240dpi / image size (less than 3000x3000 pixels) / colour - RGB

Your upload is telling me that my image is corrupt and to retry with a newly saved image. It's not all that helpful.

Just discovered the information for Mac users (via more info at the upload area). Still, I'd lioke to point out that when you get an error the site points towards PC image resize information. If in the the FAQs, there was the exact info it would be very much more helpful. Just my two cents, constructive criticism rather than just a plain nag.

After successfully uploading two image I have spent two days trying to upload two more. I get a message that my file may be corrupt and to re-save and close entry section. Same camera & computer, checked file size. Name for file photochains_submission in JPEG. Only hours to resolve this or miss out.

My images are all correct: 72ppi - under 2000 px wide and under 5 MB in size.

I've been trying all dayto upload my entries to photo5. Each time it half loads an image then crashes out with an error message. Same occured when I tried at a internet caf. So its not my PC. It appears to be an error at canon.com.au. end.

Any ideas? I'm in NZ on broadband and all files are normal .jpgs under 5Mb.

I have been trying to upload images to the Photo 5 Competition for the last 3 days and have had the issue bellow.

I have tried other service providers and computers but get the same issue.

I was desperate and have sent my photos to support by e-mail.  Can they please be added to the comp pool, it would be disappointing if they could not be entered due to some technical problem. .Please confirm that my photos have been successfully submitted. I have worked hard to produce the photos and did not for see this technical issue.

...yet the images are well under 5mb and  I have resized to under 2000pixels wide, and I've tried several different images...please help. Thanks

I am unable to upload any i9mages to te site, i keep getting this error message "Sorry, the image you are uploading cannot be saved. Please close this window, then re-save your image and try again."  I have created various Jpegs using different ways, exporting as, saving for web, ect. the file is not corrupted, i have been able to upload the image to another site with no problems. I have been trying for the past 2 hours with no success!

I'm having problems uploading my images, and have followed the instructions, downloaded the Re-sizer from Windows.  It re-sizes my images to 100kb - is that what you guys want?

Hi, just letting you know that I think the site for uploading photos is broken. I have emailed the photo5_support email, but there maybe other people who are experiencing the same issue.

I have a problem to upload photos to Photo5 competetion, and it is annoying because today is the last day to submit photos. How can I enter this competetion if the Canon site does not work? I am getting .NET error from Canon webserver. I will try to submit my photos via email (I can not do anything else) and I hope they accept my application.

I can't upload any of my pictures into the photo5 competition. Kept complaining image is corrupt or meta-data incorrect in Firefox and Google Chrome browser, and error about "A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client" if I use Internet Explorer. Everyone else is having the same problem (google search proved so).

I've spent a lot of time (weeks) doing this year's competition cause I think the briefs are really good. However, am devastated knowing that I might not have a chance of winning because I can't upload any single image to the site.

I do hope you will consider accepting images via email, and/or extending the deadline. Other than that, I know it's all up to you and nothing I say here matter at all.

I could scream!!!!  I've been trying to upload my photos for three days now and I've also sent two emails to support.  I keep getting error messages and I've tried everything from switching machines to switching software  etc..  I've worked really hard on my photo's and would still like the chance to have my pictures submitted.  Given that I have less than 3 hours to upload - WILL I STILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO ENTER?

Hi I have been trying to upload since Friday. If i go through firefox it I get a message telling me the file is corrupt or meta tag is invalid re save and try again. (doesn't work) If I try to upload with explorer get same message as graham (potentially dangerous etc) have emailed support but have received nothing.

Tried all yesterday and last night to upload and all day today. Went to a friends computer who has windows xp and downloaded the program suggested by canon and tried again (didn't work).  I don't think my files are corupt nor do i think there is anything wrong with the meta tag all info looks right and my images work on every media i have tried. Wow all this work and can't submit. am sending another email to support now.

Would've been nice to know what was the resolution to Graeme's problem (A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client). I'm getting the same error though waiting for 72hrs before support team gets back to me means that I'll miss the competition deadline! Probably should've tried submitting earlier!

I tried to upload photos today for EOS Photo 5 with no luck! It would come up with the following:

I've tried everything I know to get it through and now I'm gonna give up! Despite all this I've spent the last two nights learning how to take shots of lightning and low light situations! I've learnt heaps about photography in the last month or so. So thanks for that!!

Your uploader appears to have been broken for the last 36 hours.  Many people seem to be getting a message saying 'sorry your image cannot be saved'.  I emailed Canon Support 36 hours ago, and have no response.. any ideas on how to submit entries?  Can we email them to canon support?

It seems that the upload feature on the Canon Photo5 website has not been working for at least a couple of days. No one on that forum has been able to upload a submission.

It keeps saying that the file cannot be saved because my image is corrupt or its something to do with my image data, but I have saved and resaved it so it is definitely a jpeg. I know it's kinda late now seeing as it's 9.30pm. Should I email support team anyway?

I've tried re-sizing my photos (using the Image Resizer application) and sending these but still can't upload them. This message now comes up  "Sorry, the image you are uploading cannot be saved. I've re-saved the photos upload them again and again but still get the same message. I thought the problem could be from my computer but i was able to upload one of the photos just fine in one of the Photochains. Help? :(

Never had this problem in previous years.

I have been getting the same server errors as Graeme and am now worried that I wont be able to enter my photos!

After all the effort I have put in over the last few weeks, and especially the last few days I think I will formally "give up" on this competition. I have heard nothing back from Canon and I have to go to work tomorrow so that means my time has gone. A few of us are having the same issues as Graeme.  I have forwarded a print screen of it to the email address provided. Will we still be able to enter if it;s resolved after the shut off period??

I have tried uploading my entries all afternoon and now night and for each different category am coming up with errors.  I am getting the same response online as Gramae submitted.  

I have had all the same errors as well, and there is quick a lot of chat going around on the internet forums of people not being able to upload their entries to due technical errors with the website.

I have been trying to submit my entries all day with no sucess. Different sizes, resolutions, different browsers and i still get errors.

Hope canon have a contingency for this.

Okay, feeling pretty panicked and disappointed right now -- have spent various parts of the whole day trying to upload my image to the Close Up brief and keeping getting errors. Either a "Sorry, the image you are uploading cannot be saved. This is usually because the image is corrupt or the meta data in the image is invalid. Please close this window, then re-save your image and try again." when in Firefox or a Server Error like Graeme got above when using IE.

I've tried resizing, scrubbing the EXIF metadata, duplicating, emailing Support, etc., all to no avail. 11.24pm and starting to come to terms with the fact that I'm not going to manage to upload this pic.

I managed to successfully upload a file last week, just crossing fingers that in the next half an hour somehow the cyber pixies will let my photo through!

I get the same server error as Graham, as have been getting it for the past few days. I have tried on two different computers.

I have also been getting the same error all day and I mean all damn day.

I hope they rectify the problem and then extend the deadline,  I have sent them an email with the error attached so hopefully they will be aware that it is happening.

I have been trying to upload my images for the last 3 days and have had no luck at all. I have tried 4 different computers in 4 different location both Mac and PC and no luck at all. Whats up?

I have been trying to upload a shot since Saturday morning, keep getting an error message. Now the deadline has passed.

I spent hours last night trying to upload my images but keep getting Server errors when using Internet Explorer and the message: "Sorry, the image you are uploading cannot be saved. This is usually because the image is corrupt or the meta data in the image is invalid. Please close this window, then re-save your image and try again." messages when using Google Chrome.

I tried several different methods of resizing files etc with same result. Even tried uploading a .jpg that was straight from camera, still no luck. Tried different size files from 4.8Mb down to 500Kb with same errors.

Has anyone else had problems?

Yes I spent all day on Sunday trying to upload and kept getting the same message. I even tried using a different (Windows) computer (I am on a Macintosh).

Eventually I ran out of time and emailed the images to Canon, but have not heard whether they will accept them or not.

Disappointing after hours of work not being able to submit, but some comfort in finding I was not alone.

The website has been experiencing difficulties and a lot of people have been having trouble uploading images. We are trying to  fix it now and will let everyone know when the problem is solved. Please see the most recent post on the EOS blog.

I also got the error message several times.

I emailed them through. Hope that counts. ;)

It seems that a few of us has had the same experience with the error message stopping us from submitting our entries this year. This is the 3rd time I've tried leaving a comment, my previous comments are yet to be shown here (??). I have emailed twice to support, no replies. You guys should seriously consider email submissions next year. At least that will allow people having difficulties to still submit their photos when your system and support lines fail to help. The site is really slow as well, as it's probably overloaded with traffic so close to the deadline. My screen goes into screensaver mode and the page to view entries still doesn't load, it's that slow.

I'm not a happy camper - sure I'm relieved that the upload will be extended - but this does not change the fact that this was very amateur behaviour by Canon.  It appears everyone took off for the weekend - even though the last two days of loading was happening on Saturday and Sunday!

Hundreds of people have been desperately trying to upload - and naturally getting worried they would miss out.  Countless hours wasted - why? because Canon was 'missing in action' on the last two days of the upload!

How hard would it have been to monitor/moderate the blog on Friday evening or Saturday - Just one post from you would have laid everyone's fears to rest.

Same goes for  phot05_support@canon.com.au, clearly they were 'off for the weekend'

What a disgrace -

The Canon Photo5 site is pretty laggy... i.e: Slow. Is there a problem with your server?

Can you fix the website lag issue?
