Hi there all you Photochainers,

We are nearly two months into the Canon EOS Photochains competition and a staggering 520 chains have been started with over 3,700 images uploaded (and counting!). It’s great to see that you are all enjoying this challenge!

The calibre of submissions to the latest Photochains hero-chain challenge ‘chain’ has been outstanding, and it's now time to vote for your favourite image. The winner will receive an EOS 500D Single IS Lens Kit valued at RRP $1,649 and their image will become the next hero-chain challenge.

Make sure you visit Photochains and vote for who you think deserves to win, and keep an eye for the next hero-chain challenge which will go live July 1st.

Good luck, and keep snapping.

Hello,

I have just logged on to vote for my favourite image in this round and the next link was chain. For some reason when you go to vote it takes you to the previous round images for birds eye!

Please sort out your website which at present is letting down an otherwise great idea.

Many thanks

Hi Ben and Ben R,

Apologies, we are working on fixing this. We will let you know when voting for 'chain' opens.

Thanks for your patience.

Meredith.

Hi Meredith,

Thanks for sorting the site out. Can you just explain how voting works please?

I was under the impression you only had one vote. However it seems to allow you to vote again? Is it the case that if you vote again it reallocates your vote?

Many thanks

Hello,

well done Canon, this is a great idea!

However, as mentioned, the website could do with some improvements.

One being:

When voting for a Hero Chain submission, you have to scroll through 300+ photos, one by one, wouldn't it be better to have a "grid-like" view, with decent-size thumbnails, so that you can just click on the photos of interest to cast your vote??

Regards,

Great to see the chain voting link is working. However the photo I uploaded Thursday(yesterday) is not there. My friend's photo didn't appear either.

Thank you.

Hey Ben Robinson,

You should only be able to vote once on the hero chain, so we will look into what's causing this issue straight away.

Thanks for letting us know!

Hey Cecu,

Thanks so much for your feedback.

We are acutally implementing thumbnail capabilities in the next round of Photochains . This will make it easier to view and vote moving forward.

Hi Laura,

All images that are uploaded to the Photochains site need to be approved at the back end before they are visible online, so this could be the reason your image wasn't showing up on the hero-chain.

We have since moderated the back end, so both yours and your friends image should be visible now. You should also receive an email telling you when your image has been accepted. If you have not receive one, please let me know.

I have just been in to vote for the Hero chain. 310 images to view one at a time, no way to pull out the best and review them. I would want to select what is in my opinion the best image, but the selection process is too tedious.I note you are working on this and look forward to the improvement. Great site and I am off to dust off the camera

Why is it that more images become viewable after submissions have closed and voting has started?

Is it just a case of last minute submissions not approved in time?

Do you keep a record of who voted for the winning photo in the hero chain?  It would be interesting to get their comments on why they chose that image.

Hi M.N,

Your exactly right!  All uploaded images need to be approved at the back end of the site. Nearing the close of the hero chain challenge we see an influx of uploads so it can take us a little while to get through them all, so some may appear after the chain has closed.

Users are not able to upload once the chain is open for voting.

Hope that answers your question.

I agree with Melanie that 310 images is quite a lot to look through to vote!  Meredith, you mention that images need to be approved before being uploaded, but going through some of the current submissions for 'chain', I notice that quite a few photos don't even have any reference or relevance to chain/s.  How are these then approved to go onto this photochain?

Thanks.

Hi guys,

I love the new hero chain browse layout!

I'm looking forward to this round of voting. It's going to be so much easier to browse the large amount of exceptional submissions.

Well done Canon! Thanks for listening to the users feedback and giving us want we want.

Hi Meredith,

Great job on sorting out the website .... it is now so much easier for viewing the pics.

One thing that would be an excellent addition to photochains would be for users to be able to see how many votes the entries received after the winner has been selected in the hero chain. This would mean users are getting some kind of feedback on their photography and would help everyone improve their skills!

Keep up the good work! It's a great way to inspire people!
