About Canon's Blogger Product Review Program

Here at Canon, we take customer feedback seriously. We’re constantly looking for new ways to improve our products and how we interact with our customers.

At the very heart of Canon is our desire to help you capture moments that mean a lot to you. After all, a photo is more than a photo. It’s a snapshot in time – a unique result of a certain perspective at a particular time and place. No two images are ever the same.

For decades, millions of people around the world have shot and printed incredible, unique photos on Canon equipment. To help Australians experience our products first-hand we’ve launched a blogger outreach programme. Word of mouth is powerful and we'd like to join the community conversation.

Here you'll find a collection of blogs maintained by Canon Australia, connecting to other Australian blogs discussing Canon product. These blogs will track blogger review campaigns run on behalf of Canon Australia, link through to reviews and mentions, both good and bad, and respond on thoughts and questions.

Here’s how we’ll make it happen:
  - We offer test cameras to selected Australian bloggers
  - When bloggers accept the product, we ask them to disclose this to their readers
  - Each blogger decides what - if anything - to write about the product
  - The product remains our property and must be returned after three months

And that’s all there is to it.

Please note: Most of the posts on this blog will be written by members of our PR agency team. At all times, they will be guided by their Social Media Principles.

We encourage open discussion on the blog here, so please feel free to leave feedback. We have a moderation system in place, but posts will only be removed if they contain offensive language, off-topic comments, spam or personal attacks.

If you have any suggestions or feedback, we'd love to hear them. Please feel free to contact us.

It's actually nice to see a company put its policy down on 'paper' and actually pay some attention to what's happening out in the blogging world.

Kudos to Canon.

How do you go about the testing program? I'm going to the USA at the end of the month on a month long photo tour with my partner and that would really test speed, ease of use, reliabilty. I can write detailed reports. I'm anxiously waiting gor the 50D right now!

I would happily participate in testing and posting my thoughts on either the EOS 5D Mark II or the EOS 50D and share my thoughts with others on my blog.

I have a hefty schedule of shoots coming up between now and Christmas including concerts, a wedding, sporting events and a music festival. I'm sure real world testing and comments in these environments would be of interest to the Canon Community.

This is a fantastic program, and I'm glad to see Canon with its finger on the social media pulse, and getting in touch with photographers on a grass roots level.

I author a blog on photography which you might be interested in. http://neil.creek.name/blog At the time of writing this comment, my blog is ranked 65 in the Top100 Aussie Blogs list (blogpond.com.au/top-100-australian-blogs-index) and climbing. It's also the number two photography blog in the country, with a feed readership of approximately 1100, monthly unique visitors climbing above 10,000, and a growing photographer community built around the blog. I have been contacted already by the good people behind the Photo5 Competition blog to get the word out to my readers.

I would be very keen to participate in this program, particularly in the light of the Melbourne Anime Festival happening on the 26-28th of September. This is my biggest photo shoot of the year (I took over 3000 photos last year), and the challenging conditions, such as at the costume competition, would be an outstanding place to demonstrate the revolutionary features of the new 5D MkII.

I do a broad variety of photography, icluding portraiture, landscapes, macro and astro photography, as can be seen in my folio - flickr.com/.../72157604294415366 . I believe this would allow me to provide a valuable insight into the new camera to my readers and the photography community at large.

Thank you for this opportunity! I hope you will consider me for the program.

We’d like to thank everyone for their interest in Canon's blogger review program! It’s great to see everyone is as excited as we are. As I’m sure you can understand, Canon has a limited pool of products but we will keep you all in mind for the next EOS review program.

The EOS 1000D reviews are just the beginning of Canon’s blogger engagement and we’ll be in touch when we introduce more EOS products to this blog.

Any queries, feel free to contact us - community.canon.com.au/contact.aspx

Hello, I was most intrigued to read of this test program and would like to become involved. I am a corporate lawyer, but also a professionally trained photographer! Yes, versatile. My wife and I are leaving shortly to go to Europe and I will be setting up my own travel and review blog. I would welcome an opportunity to test any of Canon's DSLR's, especially the 450D, which I am considering buying. One of my previous cameras was the Canon EOS620. A wonderful camera, until it was stolen! Look forward to hearing from you.
